Individual Counselling & Therapy
Considering therapy is a wonderful first step to investing in your mental health and well-being. Therapy can help you live a happier, healthier and more productive life.

Therapy uses evidence-based techniques to help you challenge unhelpful thoughts, develop healthy coping tools, resolve past trauma, and live a more mindful life.
Specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness Practice.

Focusing on depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, general life-style counselling & wellness.

Serving individuals 18 years and older.

EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a unique therapy practice that is a proven and effective method to help people recover from significant past trauma, negative life experiences and other distressing events.

EMDR allows allows people to access and reprocess past unresolved experiences and memories, that are contributing to current distress. As we work to dissolve or clear out these 'root' problems, we are allowing the system to return to its natural and adaptive state of healing. We then work to instill new positive cognitions, to take the place of the old negative ones.

My Approach
I am trained in several models of therapy including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).

Using strategies from these models of therapy, I work from an inclusive, trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to assist individuals in making effective life change, learning new skills, and healing from past painful life experiences including significant trauma.

Taking into consideration your unique life experiences, past and current challenges, strengths, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, we will work together to formulate a treatment plan that is comprehensive and realistic for you.

Whether it's you, or someone close to you, most of us have struggled through difficult times, had bouts of low mood, and experienced loss or trauma in our life. In this busy fast-paced world, it's not uncommon to put our needs and emotional health aside; this works for a while,
until it doesn't!
Therapy provides a safe, and confidential space to talk about our struggles, learn new skills and work towards heathy change without judgment. Taking time for your mental health, is one of the best investments you'll ever make. You and your loved ones benefit when you are your best self!
It takes courage to reach out, and you have taken the first step. Please consider contacting me for a free 15-minute consultation to further discuss the services you are looking for.

FAQ's
How is my information kept private and confidential?
As a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers, I am bound by the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice to keep your information private and confidential. Current privacy legislation in Ontario also requires this, and is outlined in the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA). Information is never shared without your written and informed consent unless legal exceptions permit, which we will discuss in our first session together.

I use a paid encrypted (secure) software service called 'Jane' to schedule appointments and document our work together in a file created just for you. Jane is compliant with The Personal Information Protection & Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
Is email secure/private?
I discourage anyone from sharing any very private/personal information over the internet as we can never 100% guarantee the safety of this.
Please note that I use email communication for administrative purposes, such as scheduling appointments and sharing resource information. I am not able to respond to crisis situations via email.

What happens during the free consultation?
We will discuss what you are wanting to work on in counselling, my expectations of people in counselling, and you will have the chance to ask any questions you have. We will also determine if we are a 'good fit', as research shows that much of the progress made in therapy, is based on the rapport with you and your therapist.

How can I access crisis support?
I will do my best to respond to your needs in between sessions, however, I may not always be available to respond to a crisis situation. If you are in crisis or need immediate emotional support, please call the Four County Crisis Response Program at 1-866-995-9933 (24/7), or call the TALK NOW Mental Health & Addictions Clinic at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) at 705-876-5826 or attend at your local emergency department.
